This song was written to a title from the songfight.org songwriting challenge. One my my favorite songs is "Waiting On A Train" by the Bottle Rockets (Hi, Brian, Mark, Keith and John!) which tells the tale of a father trying to get to his son who lives with his mother. This is another version of that story. I also was thinking of a friend, Dave, who related how much he identified with Harry Chapin's "Cat's In The Cradle" when we were both teenagers. I really like this song. But it's not as good as the Bottle Rockets or Harry Chapin. But that's okay. It's still pretty good.
