After working on an acoustic blues version of ‘St. Louis Blues’ I spent a few minutes just playing my acoustic guitar (Angelina May, a Yairi Alevarez that sounds beautiful.. almost like an angel, you might say) and a simple little strum pattern emerged playing the I-IV-V blues pattern. I ended up recording a version that is a little less like the original than I imagined. In fact, it’s pretty much as non-blues as a blues song can be and still be called the blues. Well, I guess Hank Williams showed that you can have a blues song that sounds country.
